Power up: Refreshed Audi e-tron GT primed for Taycan upgrades as fast EV nears middle age

As it nears middle age, an upgraded Audi e-tron GT has been teased ahead its full reveal later this year.

The fast four-door sedan is set for faster charging, a longer range and a huge power-up compared to the current EV.

Closely related to the recently refreshed Porsche Taycan, our first glimpse of a lightly disguised Audi e-tron GT seems to suggest that, visually, the German Tesla Model S alternative will receive subtle exterior tweaks that involve a redesigned front bumper, new grille, fresh aerodynamically optimised wheels and a bigger rear diffuser.

Range-topping versions will also come with option of a new and more energy-dense 105kWh battery in place of the current e-tron GT’s 93.4kWh power pack.

New e-motors, meanwhile, should see the already quick Audi offer acceleration in another league compared to the current e-tron GT.

The fastest RS version is set to have power boosted from 475kW to potentially the same 700kW the Porsche Taycan Turbo S boasts.

As well as quicker, the Audi e-tron GT is also primed to get a development of the advanced Porsche Active Ride suspension tech.

This uses interlinked hydraulic dampers to cancel out body roll and pitch and dive under braking for improved comfort and agility cross country.

According to Audi e-tron GT technical project manager Jaan Mattes Reiling “the improved suspension system introduces new adjustment capabilities for the driver” suggesting a broader range of dynamic capabilities between the driving modes.

There’s no word on when Audi plans to launched the updated e-tron GT, but it’s thought more teases will be released in the coming weeks.
