Mercedes-Benz CLA EV detailed for Australia: Pricing, equipment and range for all-new award winner revealed

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed pricing and specification details for the all-new third-generation CLA range in Australia with the compact sedan arriving with fully electric power for the first time.

Leading the EV range is the rear-wheel-drive CLA 200 electric, priced from $72,200 before on-road costs, while the dual-motor CLA 350 4MATIC electric starts from $91,300 before on-road costs.

Mercedes-Benz claims the flagship CLA 350 4MATIC electric can travel up to 663km on the WLTP test cycle while consuming 14.9kWh/100km, making it one of the longest-range EV sedans in its segment.

The CLA 200 electric delivers a claimed WLTP range of up to 470km with energy consumption rated at 14.4kWh/100km.

Both EV variants use an 800-volt electrical architecture capable of DC fast charging at up to 320kW.

The dual-motor CLA 350 4MATIC electric produces 260kW and 515Nm, allowing for a claimed 0-100km/h sprint in 4.9 seconds, while the single-motor CLA 200 electric produces 165kW and 335Nm.

Mercedes-Benz says the electric drivetrain technology has been derived from the Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX efficiency program, with the CLA EV featuring a rear-mounted two-speed transmission and energy recuperation of up to 200kW.

Recently named European Car of the Year, the new CLA line-up expands to five variants overall as it also includes three hybrids and is underpinned by a new modular platform designed to support both combustion and battery-electric drivetrains.

The hybrid range comprises the CLA 180, CLA 200 and CLA 220 4MATIC, all powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Pricing for the hybrid range starts from $66,500 before on-road costs for the CLA 180, rising to $84,300 before on-road costs for the CLA 220 4MATIC.

Across the range, Mercedes-Benz says the new CLA introduces its latest Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), alongside updated infotainment, improved aerodynamics and new electrified drivetrains focused on efficiency and performance.

The new CLA adopts a redesigned interior dominated by the latest MBUX Superscreen infotainment setup, combining a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and 14-inch central touchscreen under a single glass surface. An optional 14-inch passenger display is also available.

Mercedes-Benz says the new MB.OS software architecture in the CLA enables over-the-air updates for vehicle systems and driver assistance technologies.

The AI-powered voice assistant integrates ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Bing technologies to support more natural voice interactions.

Standard equipment across the line-up includes a panoramic glass roof, heated front seats, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, facial recognition technology and a 360-degree parking camera system.

The CLA 200, CLA 220 4MATIC and CLA 350 4MATIC electric also gain AMG Line styling and interior enhancements, including sports seats, AMG body styling and sports steering wheel trim.

Mercedes-Benz says the new CLA has been engineered with a focus on aerodynamic efficiency, resulting in a drag coefficient of 0.21Cd.

Safety upgrades include the addition of a centre airbag between the front occupants for the first time in the CLA line-up.

The electric CLA recently achieved a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and was recognised as the top-performing vehicle tested by the organisation during 2025.

The all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA range will be available to order online and through Australian dealerships in the coming weeks.
