New Volvo EX60 electric SUV teased: Audi Q6, BMW iX3 and Benz GLC on a warning as Swedes finalise their most advanced EV yet
The 2026 Volvo EX60 made a brief appearance during the recent online launch of the new ES90 sedan, ahead of the battery-powered mid-size SUV’s launch next year.
Showing off its tail lamps and ES90-style high-level lamps mounted within the rear screen (pictured top), the tease of the clay model of the inbound Volvo EX60 shows how it will share styling cues with the small EX30 and flagship EX90.
Volvo’s most important EV yet, the EX60 has been created to rival the current Audi Q6 e-tron and the incoming BMW iX3 and Mercedes GLC with EQ Technology.

Primed to be the brand’s most popular EV, the EX60 is the first Volvo to ride on the all-new SPA3 platform created for EVs.
The new state-of-the-art architecture will go on to underpin all future Volvo EVs, both large and small, meaning the brand will no longer need to borrow platforms from Geely, as it does with the EX30.
When launched, the EX60’s SPA3 platform will enable Volvo to roll out is most advanced software yet.
It will be capable of over-the-air updates that will see new features including sophisticated self-driving aids unlocked over its lifetime.
Designed to be as big as the best-selling combustion-powered XC60, the electric mid-size Volvo SUV should provide more cabin space compared to its petrol-powered sibling.
Once introduced, the new EX60 will sit above the EX30 and EX40 in the Volvo EV line-up. For those not ready for the switch to electric, the current petrol-fed XC60 will live on in the range.
Ensuring it remains relevant, the XC60 will then receive a third comprehensive facelift designed to sharpen up its looks, enhance its on-board tech, as well as adding yet more electrification to clean up its tailpipe emissions.
Volvo will release more teasers of the Volvo EX60 in the coming months in the build-up to its launch next year.
