Look out Denza B5, Toyota Prado and Ford Everest! Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 is launching with an 830kW tri-motor plug-in powertrain
Fresh details of the inbound Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 SUV have surfaced ahead of its launch later this year, revealing it will come with an incredible 830kW triple-motor plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Built to battle the Toyota Land Cruiser 250 Series Prado, Ford Everest and Land Rover Defender as well as other hybrid SUVs like the Denza B5, the all-new Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 is the most rugged creation yet from the Geely brand and, to prove it, it has been teased tackling tall sand dunes.
As well as confirming its total output, the Chinese brand says that when the Galaxy Cruiser 700 lands it will have a power-to-weight ratio of 288kW per tonne, suggesting a hefty 2880kg kerb weight.

Using a small petrol combustion engine, the Cruiser 700 will come with a dual-motor rear axle, with a pair of e-motors linked by a novel fluid-coupled mechanism that locks the rear differential for maximum traction if one wheel loses all purchase on the surface beneath it.

A further single electric motor is expected to drive the front axle, enabling the new Geely SUV to travel in front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, depending on the conditions.
Fresh technology for Geely includes crab-walking, a tank-turn-style U-turn, a tyre blowout mode and automatic obstacle-avoidance self-driving capability.
Geely says the new Cruiser 700 will also be able to wade through up to 800mm of water. Onboard satellite communication will ensure you’ll always be able to call for help if you ever get stuck.

On the road, thanks to its roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, the Galaxy SUV will come with Geely’s latest G-ASD G-Pilot H5 driverless technology that works both in town and on the highway.
While the battery size has yet to be confirmed, it’s thought the new Geely 4×4 will feature a 70kWh LFP battery pack that could provide a range of more than 300km, rising to more than 1000km with a full tank of fuel when the combustion engine kicks in.
Even though Chinese sales are expected to commence before the end of this year, export sales of the Galaxy Cruiser 700 won’t begin until later in 2027.
The new Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 has yet to be confirmed for a debut Down Under, but the rugged Prado rival will be produced in right-hand drive.
