Kia PV5 pricing confirmed: Cheapest EV van yet achieves price parity with Toyota HiAce and other dirty diesels

The Kia PV5 Cargo S will be Australia’s cheapest electric commercial van when it launches in late May priced at $55,990 plus on-road costs.

Importantly, this cut-throat price also delivers the PV5 price parity against diesel vans led by the dominant Toyota HiAce.

The Cheapest HiAce diesel is priced from $51,880, while the PV5 has usurped the $61,990 as Australia’s cheapest EV van.

The pricing positions the PV5 Cargo S 4DR Long Range as the key new contender that could dramatically boost EV van popularity in Australia.

It will also spearhead Kia’s dedicated Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) line-up locally.

The PV5 Cargo will be offered in a single Long Range configuration at launch, featuring a 71.2kWh battery and a claimed driving range of 416km on the WLTP test cycle.

Power is delivered via a single front-mounted electric motor driving the front wheels, with the model underpinned by Kia’s new E-GMP.S architecture, a dedicated platform developed specifically for commercial electric vehicles.

Kia says the PV5 has undergone local ride and handling tuning to better suit Australian conditions, with a focus on urban delivery routes as well as rougher regional roads.

The Cargo variant is the first of several PBV models expected to arrive in Australia, with Kia signalling a broader push into the commercial EV space following the PV5’s recent win at the 2026 International Van of the Year awards.

The PV5 Cargo made its public debut at the Melbourne Motor Show ahead of its showroom arrival, with further details on specifications and additional variants expected closer to launch.
