Cheapest Polestar 2 cut from Aussie line-up: Last year it was being updated, this year the Standard range Single motor is gone!
Polestar has dropped the cheapest version of the Polestar 2 from its Australian line-up as part of a simplified MY27 update due here in the middle of 2026.
The Swedish EV brand has confirmed the Standard range Single motor is no longer available, meaning the Polestar 2 range now opens with the Long range Single motor at $66,400 plus on-road costs.
That is a significant shift from last year’s MY26 range, when Polestar added more range and equipment to the entry-level Standard range Single motor while holding its price at $62,400 plus on-roads.

This could be the last update for the veteran Polestar 2 before its all-new replacement breaks cover in early 2027.
Pricing for the three carryover MY27 variants is unchanged. The Long range Single motor remains $66,400, the Long range Dual motor is $71,400 and the Long range Dual motor with Performance pack is $85,080.
Polestar says the change reflects customer demand for longer driving range.
The only equipment change for MY27 is reserved for the flagship Long range Dual motor with Performance pack, which gains Pixel LED headlights and a 14-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system as standard.
Polestar says that adds $5100 of extra value to the top-spec model.
The rest of the MY27 update carries over hardware changes introduced for MY26, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon infotainment processor and the available 1350W Bowers & Wilkins audio system.
The Bowers & Wilkins system remains optional on the Long range Single motor and Long range Dual motor, while the Plus, Pro, Climate and Pilot packs continue to be offered.
All Polestar 2 models continue with a five-year vehicle warranty and complimentary roadside assistance.
Orders for the MY27 Polestar 2 are now open ahead of Australian arrivals in mid-2026.
