Price slashed: Another over-priced EV faces reality. The Genesis GV60 has been overhauled and is now $15K cheaper!

Genesis has confirmed pricing and specification for its updated 2027 GV60 electric SUV, introducing a new entry-level rear-wheel-drive variant that significantly lowers the cost of entry to the range.

Set to arrive in Australia in June, the refreshed GV60 will open from $88,300 plus on-road costs for the new Advanced RWD, positioning it around $15,000 below the previous all-wheel-drive Lux variant and under the Luxury Car Tax threshold.

The update represents a broader repositioning of the GV60 line-up, with the previous flagship Lux Performance dropped in favour of the high-performance GV60 Magma, which is due to join the range with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain producing up to 700Nm. Final pricing and full details for the Magma have yet to be announced.

The new entry-level Advanced RWD is powered by a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 168kW, paired with a larger fourth-generation 84kWh battery that delivers a claimed driving range of up to 561km on the WLTP cycle.

Built on the Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP platform, the GV60 retains its 400V/800V charging capability, allowing a 10 to 80 per cent recharge in as little as 18 minutes when connected to a 350kW fast charger.

Visually, the update brings a revised exterior design with a new three-dimensional grille, updated bumpers and Genesis’ latest Micro Lens Array LED headlights. A redesigned aerodynamic underbody also contributes to a reduced drag coefficient of 0.28Cd.

Inside, the biggest change is the introduction of a new 27-inch connected car Integrated Cockpit (ccIC), which combines the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system into a single panoramic display. The cabin continues to follow Genesis’ ‘Beauty of White Space’ design philosophy, with updated materials and trim options.

The GV60 also gains a range of technology upgrades, including an updated battery conditioning system to improve charging performance in colder conditions, Smart Regenerative Braking 3.0 and an expanded over-the-air update capability that now covers more vehicle systems.

Chassis and refinement improvements have also been introduced, including revised suspension tuning, additional sound insulation and updates to steering calibration aimed at improving ride comfort and response.

Standard equipment on the Advanced RWD includes 19-inch alloy wheels, leather-appointed seats, a 27-inch OLED display, heated and ventilated front seats, a surround-view camera, smart parking assist and a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems.

Genesis says the updated GV60 retains its five-star ANCAP safety rating.

Further details on the Australian specification and the full GV60 range, including the performance-focused Magma variant, will be announced closer to launch.
