Audi e-Tron GT, RS e-Tron GT pricing and specifications revealed

The Audi e-Tron GT will be priced from $181,700 before on-road and dealer costs and the more powerful RS e-Tron GT will be $249,700. First Australian deliveries are due in September, almost a year later than Audi had initially planned.

Sharing its 800V electrical architecture and major mechanical components with the Porsche Taycan – complete with charge points on either side – in sportier RS guise the Audi e-Tron GT is the most powerful Audi ever unleashed on public roads, with up to 475kW and 830Nm from its dual motor setup.

That’s for the more expensive RS e-Tron GT and is enough to blast to 100km/h in as little as 3.3 seconds when using the boost mode that temporarily steps the power up; it’s 0.3 seconds slower when using the regular drive mode.

Even the regular e-Tron GT is a brisk machine, making 350kW and 630Nm, stepping up to 390kW/640Nm when using boost mode. The claimed 0-100km/h time is 4.5 seconds, which lowers to 4.1 seconds when using boost mode.

Both e-Tron GTs get a dual motor setup that gives the car Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system for better traction and dynamics. Like the Porsche, the larger rear electric motor is hooked up to a two-speed automatic transmission designed to boost performance while allowing for higher top speeds.

The e-Tron GT also has impressively fast charging credentials, using its 800V charging capability to utilise the potential of the latest 350kW ultra-rapid chargers. Maximum DC charging dan be done at 270kW, allowing 100km of range to be added in as little as five minutes.

AC charging can be done at up to 22kW if you option the faster onboard charger (an 11kW charger is standard). With a useable battery capacity of 83.7kWh (overall capacity is 93kWh) it would take about four hours to charge (or eight hours with the standard 11kW charger). That stretches to more like 37 hours when using a home powerpoint. Audi supplies and fits an AC wallbox home charger as part of the price.

At $181,700 the regular e-Tron GT comes with 20-inch alloy wheels, matrix LED headlights, Audi’s virtual cockpit (digital instrument cluster), three-chamber adjustable air suspension, wireless phone charging, head-up display, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control, tyre pressure sensors and a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The $249,700 RS e-Tron GT steps it up with 21-inch alloys, tungsten carbide brake discs (pioneered by sister brand Porsche), red brake calipers, four-wheel steering, carbon fibre trim inlays and Nappa leather. The RS also gets the choice of two unique colours, Tactical Green and Ascari Blue.

Like the Audi e-Tron (the SUV and Sportback versions) the e-Tron GT gets six years worth of free charging at Chargefox points and six years of scheduled servicing.

And, like the Taycan, the e-Tron GT has its battery pack temporarily discontinued in the rear to allow foot space for back seat passengers. There’s also an 85-litre front storage compartment (or frunk), as well as a 405-litre boot, which drops to 350 litres in the RS e-Tron GT.
