V8s shamed, V12s whipped! Porsche’s new Taycan GT electric sedan is set to be its fastest model ever!

The new flagship Porsche Taycan Turbo GT will be fully unwrapped on March 11 and when it makes its debut it will be nothing less that the quickest car ever to be launched from the German sports car-maker.

To prove we’re on the eve of the release of what could be one of the fastest EVs money can buy, regardless of its four doors, Porsche has released a new silhouette of the incoming Taycan Turbo GT’s heavily revised body.

Clearly sporting a huge rear spoiler, it’s almost certain the car we’re looking at is the very same hot Porsche Taycan that set a new production EV lap record at the Nurburgring back in January.

For now, the famous Stuttgart-based brand is still refusing to release full details of the Taycan that set an impossibly quick 7min7sec time around the circuit but the images of the pre-production car that hot-lapped the Green Hell were telling as it looks like Porsche engineers and designers left no stone unturned to gain a performance advantage.

That explains why the Turbo GT is set to gain not only that huge rear wing but a new heavily revised front bumper, large front splitter, new rear air intake, new bumper and plenty of underbody air-bending measures.

The Taycan flagship – that is yet to be officially named – also wore the same pair of revised headlights that have been adopted by the entire range.

Finally, the fastest-ever production EV to lap the Nurburgring wore a set of optional lightweight 21-inch wheels and stickier Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres that should both be offered on the new Turbo GT.

As for power, expect Porsche to squeeze in an all-new powertrain that will feature either dual- or triple-motors pumping out comfortably more than 750kW.

Rimac Nevera

That explains how the flagship Porsche Taycan almost nicked the outright EV record off the 1408kW Rimac Nevera. Despite the Croat mega-beast having considerably more power, being lighter and having even more outlandish aero, it could only lap two seconds quicker (7min5sec) than the four-door, four-seat small family-friendly Porsche.

With performance to basically match a bonafide hypecar, Porsche engineers will be pretty confident that, against the clock, the new Taycan should easily see off the already ballistic 760kW Tesla Model S Plaid off the line.

We expect a 0-100km/h dash of little more than two seconds and a top speed of around 330km/h.
