Geely EX2 Australian pricing announced: It’s not the cheapest new EV on-sale locally, but it’s darn close!

The Geely EX2 will arrive in Australia priced from just $26,490 plus on-road costs, making the Chinese brand’s new small electric hatch one of the cheapest EVs on sale and setting up a fresh battle with the BYD Atto 1 and MG4 Urban.

Arriving in Geely dealerships from late July, the EX2 will be offered in two variants, with the entry Complete priced at $26,490 plus on-road costs and the better-equipped, longer-range Inspire costing $30,990 plus on-road costs.

That compares to the $23,990 plus ORCs starting price for the BYD Atto 1, $29,990 plus ORCs for the BYD Dolphin and $31,990 drive-away for the MG4 Urban.

The aggressive pricing confirms the EX2 as another serious sub-$30,000 EV contender and gives Geely a second all-electric model in Australia alongside the larger EX5 SUV.

The EX2 was China’s best-selling car overall in 2025 and Geely says 459,960 examples were delivered globally across its various nameplates during the year.

The entry-level EX2 Complete is powered by a rear-mounted 60kW/150Nm electric motor and a 35.3kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that provides a 252km WLTP driving range.

The flagship Inspire upgrades to a more powerful 85kW/150Nm rear electric motor and a larger 47.1kWh LFP battery, increasing its WLTP range to 345km.

DC fast-charging speeds are modest compared with larger and more expensive EVs, with the Complete capable of charging at up to 60kW and the Inspire accepting up to 80kW. Both versions have a maximum 6kW AC charging rate.

Unlike many affordable front-wheel drive small EVs, the EX2 uses rear-wheel drive and multi-link independent rear suspension.

Australian-market versions also receive a specific ride and handling tune developed in collaboration with Geely Technology Europe, the engineering operation formerly known as the Lotus Tech Innovation Centre.

Based on Geely’s Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA), which also underpins the EX5 electric SUV and Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid, the EX2 measures 4135mm long, 1805mm wide and 1580mm high, with a 2650mm wheelbase.

Despite its compact dimensions, Geely claims the EX2 offers a 375-litre boot, a large 70-litre front storage compartment and more than 30 storage areas throughout the cabin.

Both variants come standard with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, powered front seats, LED lighting and a comprehensive suite of active safety systems.

The Complete rides on 16-inch covered steel wheels and comes with a four-speaker sound system, four drive modes and Geely Connected Services.

Stepping up to the Inspire adds 16-inch alloy wheels, a contrasting black roof, power tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, heated front seats and steering wheel, wireless phone charging, six-speaker audio, 256-colour ambient lighting and a 360-degree surround-view camera.

Both variants are equipped with seven airbags and safety technology including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, lane-keeping assistance and evasive manoeuvre assistance.

Geely Connected Services are scheduled to become operational in August, allowing owners to remotely control functions including climate control, door locks and charging through the Geely smartphone app.

Emergency Call functionality is expected to be activated via an over-the-air software update in the fourth quarter of 2026.

To support the EX2’s launch, Geely is offering buyers who order and take delivery before the end of August a free 7kW home charger – although installation is not included – and a complimentary premium paint upgrade worth up to $600.

Eligible buyers can also access a 0.68 per cent comparison finance rate over a 36-month term.
