350km/h Battista hypercar starts high-speed tests
The 350km/h Pininfarina Battista battery electric hypercar has completed its first high-speed and handling test.
The 1400kW/2300Nm Battista underwent the session at the Nardo technical centre in Italy.
The most powerful Italian sportscar ever produced, the Battista launches in 2021 and is due in Australia in 2022.
Just four of 150 Battistas being built by the new vehicle manufacturer that sits alongside the famed 90 year-old design house of the same name are allocated to Australian and New Zealand.
It is expected to be priced locally beyond $3 million.
For that small fortune the lucky few will get a car capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in less than two seconds, from 0-300km/h in less than 12 seconds and have a top speed of 350km/h.
The Battista’s four-motor powertrain is fuelled by a 120kWh battery that provides a claimed 500km range between recharges, although perhaps not at V-max…
Nine validation versions of the Battista are now testing privately and on public roads as the carbon-fibre coupe goes through final development.
We’ve previously explored the Battista development process and concept here.
Pininfarina explained the various elements of the car final testing would focus on:
Racing-inspired Brembo CCMR carbon-ceramic brakes. The Battista will be the first electrified supercar to use the technology.
Four-motor torque vectoring. The system will be uniquely tuned to suit the bespoke hyper GT characteristics of the Battista.
Double-wishbone suspension components, forged aluminium wheels, torsion bars and elastokinematics. Cohesion with the stiff carbon-fibre monocoque will be a priority.
The Battista’s five different drive modes – Calma, Pura, Energica, Furiosa and Carattere.
Wheels and tyres. There is a choice of 20-inch and 21-inch forged aluminium wheels and Pirelli and Michelin rubber.
Aerodynamics. The exterior design and active aero will be refined at high-speed.
The sound experience. Both internal and external audio will be finalised. Pininfarina promises it will be unique.
Automobili Pininfarina test driver and vehicle dynamics manager Georgios Syropoulos, said:
“The phenomenal performance potential of the Battista is clear. Our clients will never have experienced acceleration like this before, yet giving them the opportunity to tailor their experience using a range of drive modes means this hypercar offers much more than just speed thrills.
“With a zero-emissions range of 500 kilometres and sophisticated all-wheel drive technology, every drive in Battista will be a pleasure.”
