Flagship seven-seat 2026 Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid confirmed for Australia: SUV combines 170km of EV range with $60,000 asking price
Chery Australia has detailed its flagship 2026 Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid ahead of its launch next month when it will become available in a single trim priced from $59,990 before on-road costs.
Created to sit above its mid-size Tiggo 8 seven-seat SUV ($49,990 plus on-road costs), the new Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid also comes with seven seats.
But it upgrades to all-wheel drive and a three-motor plug-in hybrid powertrain that on a full charge will see it cover up to 170km on the NEDC test cycle on EV power alone.
Brim the tank full of petrol, and Chery claims drivers will be able to drive up to 1250km before they need to refuel again.

Combining a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder with two electric motors on the front axle and a further e-motor to drive the rear wheels, Chery says in total the Tiggo 9 produces 315kW of power and 580Nm of torque.

Providing that long EV range is a 34kWh lithium-ion battery.
Mirroring what’s happened with the closely-related Omoda 9 that’s priced at $61,990 plus on-road costs, the new Chery will only come in a single well-equipped Ultimate AWD CSH specification.
That means it includes 360-degree camera, six-way electric front heated, ventilated leather seats and feature a massage function for the front seats.

Other kit includes a heated steering wheel, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 14-speaker premium sound system (two in the driver’s headrest), a head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 50W wireless charger, ambient lighting, puddle lamps, a panoramic roof, electric tailgate, LED lighting and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Fresh tech introduced by Chery’s new flagship is led by an auto park feature that can deal with both parallel and perpendicular parking spaces.
There’s no word yet on its crash performance, but there are 10 airbags (including a front-centre, driver’s knee, and rear-side bags).
Set to land in showrooms from next month, Chery Australia says if you order the Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid now, it will match customer deposits between $500-$2000.
“The Tiggo 9’s combination of modern design, performance, and advanced features will provide drivers with excellent value and a truly extraordinary driving experience,” said Chery Australia and New Zealand boss, Lucas Harris.
“It also features the next step in Chery’s Super Hybrid technology, which results in more power and an even greater driving range.”
