Updated Volvo XC60 price and specs: Popular electrified SUV refreshed for extended battle with the BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC

The 2025 Volvo XC60 has arrived in Australian showrooms with mildly tweaked styling accompanied with price rises of up to $1900.

Only the second time the stalwart Volvo XC60 has been facelifted in the eight years since it was first introduced, the premium mid-size SUV is the brand’s biggest seller ever with more than 2.7 million cars sold since production of the first-gen began back in 2009.

Originally, it was thought the XC60 was to be pensioned off with the arrival of the all-electric EX60 that launches in 2026.

But following the dip in global demand for EVs it’s understood both will coexist.

The combustion XC60 will now potentially be replaced by another hybrid-powered car in two years’ time.

Now priced from $74,990 (+$1000) for the entry XC60 B5 Bright, the Volvo mid-size SUV is still around $11,000 cheaper than the equivalent BMW X3.

In the flesh, few would spot the MY25 XC60 but it does get a new front grille pattern mirroring the XC90. There are also new alloy wheels, darkened taillights and the option of three new paint: Forest Lake, Aurora Silver and Mulberry Red.

More significant within is the introduction of a new much larger 11.2-inch infotainment (up from 9.0-inches) that has 21 per cent higher pixel density and is twice as quick to react as before.

The new system runs an upgraded Android Automotive software that is claimed to have a more intuitive design. The same menu appearance will roll out on MY22-onwards XC60s via an over-the-air update later this year.

Other upgrades include different dash inlays, the option of Nordico fabric seats and a revised wireless charger plus a redesigned centre console.

Under the bonnet the full range of electrified engines carry over, which means the B5 versions come with a 183kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder 48-volt mild-hybrid engine that is combined with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.

A more sophisticated plug-in hybrid powertrain powers the T8 versions that blend the same 2.0-litre turbo with a 107kW/309Nm e-motor that produces a combined 340kW.

Capable of a 0-100km/h dash of just 4.8 seconds, the appeal of the T8 Plug-in is its 18.8kWh onboard high-voltage battery enabling it to travel up to 89km on pure-electric power alone.

When it comes to standard equipment the base B5 Bright sits on 19-inch alloy wheels and gets a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, quad-zone climate control, 10-speaker sound system, head-up display, 36-degree camera, driver assist tech that includes lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise and blind-spot monitoring.

Choose the B5 Dark $81,990 (+$1900) and you get larger 20-inch alloy wheels, a premium Harman Kardon sound system, Nappa leather heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel and panoramic roof.

While the XC60 Plus T8 PHEV Dark costs $92,990 (+$600), a range-topping XC60 Ultra T8 Plug-in Hybrid Dark also remains in the line-up, priced from $101,990 (+$600).

The flagship Volvo XC60 gets even larger 21-inch alloy wheels, air suspension, plus a top-of-the-range Bowers and Wilkins sound system.
