More competition for LDV, Benz and VW in mid-size vans: Ford confirms pricing for Transit Custom EV and PHEV

Ford Australia has confirmed pricing and specifications for the new 2025 E-Transit Custom and Transit Custom PHEV commercial vans ahead of first deliveries starting in Spring 2025.

Four variants will be available, with the choice of plug-in hybrid or battery electric powertrains in either Long Wheelbase Trend or Short Wheelbase Sport.

Rivals for Ford’s new Transit Custom electrified family include the LDV eDeliver 7, Mercedes-Benz eVito and Volkswagen ID.Buzz.

The Transit Custom PHEV Trend LWB and Transit Custom PHEV Sport SWB are priced at $67,590 and $69,990 plus on-road costs, respectively.

The all-electric 64kWh E-Transit Custom is priced at $77,590 for the Trend LWB and $79,990 plus on-road costs for the Sport SWB variant.

All plug-in Transit Custom and E-Transit Custom variants carry the same load space as their turbo-diesel Transit Custom LWB and SWB counterparts, measuring in at 6.0m3 and 5.2m3 respectively 6.

Maximum payload capacity – based on kerb weight – ranges between 1111kg and 1206kg depending on the variant.

Braked towing capacity 5 is 2.3 tonnes, which Ford claims is class-leading for an electrified van.

The Transit Custom PHEV is powered by a 111kW/320Nm electric motor and 86kW/209Nm 2.5L petrol engine, with a combined power output of 171kW.

It has an official – and very theoretical! – WLTP fuel economy rating of just 1.7L/100km and an electric-only range of up to 54km from its liquid-cooled 11.8kWh battery.

The E-Transit Custom is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor that delivers 160kW/415Nm. Its 64kWh battery can charge from 15-80 per cent in 32 minutes at a DC charging rate up to 125kW. It has a maximum 11kW AC charging rate.

Its range is 301-307km depending on the variant.

Trend PHEV equipment includes Intelligent adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a reversing camera, 13-inch infotainment system, a 12-inch driver cluster, voice command, sat-nav, smartphone mirroring, wireless charging, cloth seat trim, keyless start, climate control, automatic headlights, integrated roof racks, full-width metal bulkhead with window and load-through hatch, sliding left door, rear twin barn doors, LED load area lighting and 16-inch steel wheels.

The Sport adds nicer trim and stripes, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, Dual Zone climate control, Locking Lower Glovebox, LED front lighting, sports body kit and rear spoiler, Stripe Package and black 17-inch alloys.

E-Transit Custom pricing will be announced later.
