Small, fancy and coming soon: 2025 Lynk & Co 02 on the cards for Australia as China’s premium EV race heats up
Geely’s premium brand Lynk & Co has revealed the 2025 Lynk & Co 02 SUV-coupe that it hopes will help it get a foothold in the new emerging small premium SUV market.
Created to be the brand’s new entry-level SUV, the new Lynk & Co 02 is the latest vehicle based on Geely’s new-generation Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) that is already used on the Smart #1, Volvo EX30 and Zeekr X.
And it could be coming to Australia. Back in 2021 Lynk & Co would go on-sale in Australia in 2025, and given its parent brand Geely and sister brands Polestar, Volvo and Zeekr are all either here or coming soon, it’s a good chance.
Instead of inter-brand fighting, Lynk & Co hopes the 02 will steal sales from the likes of the BMW X1 and Mercedes EQA. Both existing premium SUVs are almost identical to the 02’s 4460mm long, 1845mm wide, 1573mm tall dimensions.

To help it stand out in an increasingly busy crowd, the 02 gets a striking and aerodynamically optimised snout that incorporates fang-shaped LED headlamps and neat active air intake shutters. Other noticeable features are the two-tone paint scheme, a full-width panoramic glass roof, flush door handles, a large rear spoiler, plus large 19- and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Considering it is more than likely going to spend most of its life in town, Lynk & Co has said it has given the 02 a ‘Hey Honk’ customisable sound that is said to provide a warning the near-silent EV is approaching, and that is said to be much friendlier than using the actual horn.
Inside, there’s a flat-bottomed oval steering wheel, two-tier dash and a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel that’s combined with a 15.4-inch infotainment.
Recycled and new translucent materials all help the 02 stand out beside its rivals.
Dual wireless chargers, a heated steering wheel and heated electric seats are standard, while a new Journey Camera uses a lens mounted within the rear-view mirror to snap selfies on a road trip.
More weird new innovations include a Sharing Strap, that, with a a gentle tug of the pull located beside the steering wheel, activates a Lynk & Co app that allows others to borrow your car in just a few steps.
Driver assist tech includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), front/rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, blind spot warning and traffic sign recognition.
Boot space is reasonable with a 410-litre space that’s bolstered by an additional 15L frunk.
Driving the 02 is the same 200kW/343Nm e-motor used by Volvo, Smart and Zeekr, that is combined with a 66kWh lithium-ion battery. Acceleration is decent, with 0-100km/h taking just 5.5 seconds, while top speed is 180km/h.
With a full charge, Lynk & Co says the 02 can travel up to 445km on the WLTP cycle, while a 10-80 per cent charge at a rate of up to 150kW takes around 30 minutes.
In Europe the Lynk & Co has already been priced from €35,495 ($57,500) before incentives.
