New Hummer EV logo revealed for 745kW electric mega-ute

August 17, 2020 EV Central team

The vehicle GM hopes will strike electric fear into the ICE heart of vehicles like the Ram 1500 continues to take shape, with the auto giant commencing the trademarking process for a new logo for its all-EV Hummer business.

The trademark application, which hasn’t been formally approved yet, was lodged in the USA on August 8, revealing a new-look logo for the reborn Hummer brand, which is expected to debut its first vehicle in mere months.

The “H” in Hummer forms the lion’s share of the new logo, with the brand written in full in smaller font below it. The word “EV” takes up almost-equal billing, cementing the giant shift the infamous brand has taken from petrol-powered engines.

It’s the next step in the launch process for the Hummer brand, with GM having already teased the first of its upcoming models – a 745kW, 15,592Nm mega-truck that promises to clip 96km/h in just 3.0 seconds.

Teased in both truck and wagon guises, GM promises the new-look Hummer will be equipped with “Adrenalin Mode”, “Crab Mode” and the latest Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving features.

The Hummer will be fitted with a Ultium battery pack, in varying capacities, delivering a maximum range north of 600 kilometres, as well as 350kW fast charging.

The new vehicle is expected to make its debut in in the third quarter of 2020. Sadly, GM is yet to confirm the Hummer brand for Australia – nor has it trademarked the new logo in this country.

But with GM expected to launch the HSV-replacing GMSV brand in Australia (the American auto giant lodged a local trademark application protecting the “GMSV” name here in June), it’s possible – though unconfirmed – the new Hummer could be among the models chosen to be imported and converted from left- to right-hand drive locally.
