Denza Z9GT confirmed for Australia: High-performance EV will have high-performance charging too!

Denza has confirmed its high-performance Z9GT electric grand tourer will join its growing Australian line-up, with local deliveries due to begin in the third quarter of 2026.

The new flagship model, which was revealed as a headline act at the Melbourne Motor Show, will expand the Chinese premium brand’s presence locally following the recent launch of the D9 people mover.

The Z9GT will be the first model sold in Australia to feature BYD’s next-generation Blade Battery 2.0 and its new ultra-fast ‘FLASH’ charging technology. The latter is claimed to support peak charging speeds of up to 1500kW DC, with the brand targeting a 10 to 97 per cent recharge in about nine minutes under optimal conditions.

Denza says the Z9GT will offer a driving range of around 820km on the Chinese CLTC cycle, positioning it as a long-distance grand tourer aimed at reducing range anxiety for Australian buyers.

Underpinning the model is the new e3 platform, which incorporates a three-motor drivetrain delivering a claimed system output of around 850kW. That figure translates to a 0-100km/h sprint time of approximately 2.7 seconds, placing it firmly in high-performance territory.

The Z9GT will also debut the brand’s DiSus-A air suspension system, designed to improve ride comfort and stability. Denza claims the system can actively manage vehicle dynamics in the event of a tyre blowout by adjusting power delivery, steering and braking inputs in milliseconds.

Inside, the Z9GT is pitched as a luxury-focused offering, featuring Nappa leather upholstery with massage and ventilation functions, a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display, Devialet premium audio, ambient lighting and a built-in refrigerator.

Denza Australia chief operating officer Mark Harland said the Z9GT demonstrates the brand’s ambitions in the premium EV segment.

“The DENZA Z9GT proves that electrification can deliver not just efficiency, but exhilarating performance, extraordinary safety and genuine long-distance usability,” he said.

Local pricing and final specifications will be confirmed closer to the Z9GT’s Australian launch, with the first FLASH charging sites expected to be installed at selected Denza dealerships in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide from the fourth quarter of 2026.
