Bargain EV! MG4 drive-away deals push Excite 51 below $38k on the road!

MG Motor has cut prices across its MG4 EV range, launching a national plate clearance that drops the entry-level Excite 51 variant to $37,990 drive-away.

The run-out campaign applies across all trim levels and comes with an added incentive — a 12-month Evie Network voucher offering up to 1000kWh of free public charging.

The MG4 has been one of Australia’s strongest-selling EVs since its 2023 debut, with more than 12,000 sold.

Discounting campaigns like this one have helped push that tally up. The MG4 Excite 51 has sold for as little as $30,990 drive-away in the past.

This time round, the deal is being driven by the 2026 arrival of the MG4 Urban, which is a totally different car with a similar name and slightly larger size.

Its arrival will reportedly prompt a range rationalisation of the current MG4 in Australia.

At just under 4.3 metres long, the existing MG4 sits squarely in the small-car segment and competes with the likes of the BYD Dolphin and GWM Ora SUV for EV buyers.

MG Motor Australia business director Kevin Gannon said the MG4 has played a key role in bringing electric motoring to more Australian households. “It’s often a second family car, chosen for its practicality and running cost advantages,” he said, adding that the current offer gives buyers “a compelling reason to make the switch before 2026 models arrive.”

Buyers who take delivery before 31 December 2025 will receive the complimentary charging offer through Evie’s nationwide network.

Key MG4 Excite 51 features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MG iSMART connectivity, along with a suite of driver-assist tech such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and autonomous emergency braking.

While the clearance pricing is temporary, it continues a wider trend of electric vehicle price adjustments across Australia in 2025, as brands look to spark more interest in EV sales and intensifying competition from Chinese manufacturers.
