Huge $20,000+ price cuts! Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e now challenge budget Chinese EVs MG4 and BYD Dolphin
The Fiat 500e has had its price slashed by an incredible $20,000, with the sharp-suited Italian now priced from just $38,990 drive-away.
Pitching the small hatch against the likes of the MG4 Excite 51 ($37,990 drive-away) for the first time, the catch with the huge discount is that they only apply to remaining stock of MY23 Fiat 500e La Prima.
That model was originally priced from $52,500 before on-road costs, which translates to about $58,180 drive-away in states like Victoria.

The offer also expires on September 30, or however long stocks last.
Available with just one powertrain, the discounted 500e comes with a front-mounted e-motor that produces 87kW and 200Nm of torque, for a 9.0 second 0-100km/h dash
Meanwhile, the 42kWh battery provides for a range of up to 311km on the WLTP test cycle.
With DC charging capped at 85kW, a 20-80 per cent top up takes around 30 minutes.
If you’re in the mood for something quicker, even larger discounts apply to the battery-powered Abarth 500e Scorpionissima.
Normally priced at $60,500 (plus on-roads), an MY23 Abarth 500e an all-electric hot hatch is now available for just $43,990.
That’s an incredible saving that amounts to around $23,000 if you compare like-for-like drive-away pricing.
The hotter EV shares the 500e’s 42kWh powerpack but gets a punchier 114kW/235Nm front e-motor that sees it launch from 0-100km/h in 7.0 seconds.
However, the range falls to 265km.
Like the Fiat 500e, a 5-80 per cent top-up for the Abarth version is said to take around 35 minutes.
Whichever you choose, equipment levels are high on both the Fiat and Abarth EV.
The Fiat bags 17-inch alloy wheels, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch infotainment, keyless entry and go, a wireless smartphone charger and heated front seats.
Choose the hot Abarth and the 500e gains larger 18-inch rims, Alcantara sport seats and a standard Sound Generator that broadcasts a synthetic soundtrack.
The new discounts only apply to the Abarth 500e Scorpionissima and not the 500e Turismo, as the second variant arrived later in 2024.
In Australia the Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e could provide a welcome sales boost as just the local importer has shifted only 207 500/500e/695 models, representing a fall of 28.6 per cent, although there’s been no breakdown on which model sold in which volumes.
In Europe, in the first three months of 2025 sales of the Fiat 500e dropped by an alarming 40.1 per cent to just 6825 in the entire region triggering the brand to take the unprecedented step of re-engineering the EV to be powered by a mild-hybrid 1.0-litre petrol engine.
The new 500 Hybrid introduces a replacement for the ancient 17-year-old combustion-powered Fiat 500 that was finally pensioned off in 2024.
