It’s not from China! New mid-size Skoda Elroq SUV is primed to be Czech brand’s best-selling EV when it lands in Australia next year

The all-new Skoda Elroq EV has been officially revealed ahead of its debut in Australia in July 2025, giving us our first look at the zero-emission replacement for the small-medium Karoq SUV.

Set to join the all-electric Skoda Enyaq that finally goes on sale here in December this year, the Elroq is primed to be Skoda’s best-selling EV globally and is the first of its models designed under its Modern Solid design language.

That means its sports Skoda’s new ‘Tech-Deck’ face and gets SKODA lettering on its nose and rear tailgate.

The new front also incorporates optional matrix LED headlamps and a full-width light bar.

At the rear, the Elroq looks like the much older Karoq, although there’s no tailpipes.

Within, Skoda says buyers will have the choice of Studio, Loft, Lodge and Sportline design themes for the cabin with the most basic Studio getting black fabric seats. T

The Loft swaps to synthetic leather that is combined with green stitching and dark blue recycled fabric.

The Lodge gets the firm’s TechnoFil material with orange contrasting elements.

Finally, the Sportline boasts suede sport seats, fake carbon-fibre trim, red seat belts and sportier design cues while outside there’s a body kit and lower ride height for a more purposeful stance.

All models come with a 13-inch infotainment system that includes ChatGPT virtual assistance. Ahead of the driver is a 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster.

Nine airbags, adaptive cruise, lane keep assist and lots more other driver assist tech is all standard, ensuring the Elroq will be among the safest in its class.

Boot space is 470-litres with rear seats upright and 1580L with the second row dropped.

Beneath the skin the Elroq is based on the same MEB architecture as the Volkswagen ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq.

From launch there will be three different batteries. The base Skoda Elroq 50 comes with a 125kW e-motor and a 52kWh battery that provides for a 370km range and DC charging up to 145kW. The entry Elroq can accelerate from 0-100km/h in nine seconds.

The Elroq 60 gets a 59kWh battery that provides for a 400km range, is combined with a 150kW e-motor and can be charged at 165kW and hit 100km/h from rest in 8.5 seconds.

Finally, there’s the flagship Elroq 85 that comes with a 210kW e-motor (0-100km/h 6.6sec) and gets the biggest 77kWh battery that can cover up to 560km and be topped up at up to 175kW. Later on, an all-wheel drive dual-motor Elroq 85x will join the line-up.

Skoda Australia says it’s too early for pricing and full specification with both set to be released closer to the July 2025 launch.
