Form an orderly Q: Audi Q4 e-tron to be priced from $88,300 when Tesla Model Y-rival arrives in late 2024

Audi Australia has announced its 2025 Q4 e-tron will cost from $88,300 when it lands here late this year in two body styles and with a decent range of up to 562km.

The mid-size battery-electric SUV first debuted in Europe in 2021, but has taken more than three years before Audi Australia deemed the time was right to introduce the Audi Q4 e-tron here.

A positive from the move is we’ll receive the latest updated version packing more power, chassis revisions and a superior range.

Designed to fill the gap between the current combustion Q3 and larger Q5, the latest Audi SUV is quite a lot smaller than Australia’s best-selling EV, Tesla’s Model Y.

The Q4 e-tron measures 4590mm long, 1865mm wide and 1613mm tall – it is 150mm shorter than its Tesla rival.

While the wagon offers up to 520 litres of luggage space, the sleeker Sportback version offers a 535L boot.

Aussie buyers will have the choice of two powertrains: a rear-drive single-motor 45 or all-wheel drive dual-motor 55 Quattro, to go with the choice of Q4 wagon body or the more rakish Sportback.

When it comes to power outputs, the Q4 45 e-tron gets a 210kW/545Nm e-motor driving the rear wheels, delivering a 0-100km/h time of 6.7 seconds.

The dual-motor Q4 55 e-tron pumps out 250kW and 679Nm of torque, helping it hit 100km/h from rest in 5.4 seconds.

Both models come equipped with a 77kWh battery that provides the rear-drive Q4 e-tron with a respectable 562km range, although this entry model can only be DC fast-charged at up to 135kW, compared to the 175kW DC rate of the dual-motor Q4.

Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron – $88,300 before on-road price mirrors its wagon stablemate.

The Q4 45 e-tron costs $88,300 in both wagon and Sportback guise, while the Q4 55 e-tron Quattro is $108,500 for the wagon and $109,500 the Sportback. All prices are before on-roads.

At that money, Audi has positioned its Q4 e-tron well above the Tesla Model Y (priced from $63,900), but it is competitive next to premium Euro rivals like the BMW iX3 M Sport ($89,100) or quicker dual-motor Volvo XC40 Recharge ($85,990).

Whichever you choose, equipment levels are high. The Q4 45 e-tron gets LED headlamps, a digital instrument cluster, power tailgate, leather heated seats, tri-zone climate control and metallic paint.
