2025 MG ZS Hybrid+ on its way to Australia

The 2025 MG ZS Hybrid+ has been unwrapped with more tech, a fresh new look and an advanced, efficient petrol-electric hybrid powertrain ahead of its arrival Down Under in late 2024.

Already a top-seller in Australia in the small SUV segment, the MG ZS Hybrid+ remains a natural rival for the electrified versions of the Toyota Corolla Cross, Hyundai Kona and GWM Haval Jolion.

This time round, the MG ZS Hybrid+ combines a 75kW 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder with a punchy 100kW/250Nm electric motor, a small 1.83kWh battery and a three-speed automatic.

Combined, total output is 144kW, which is enough for a brisk 0-100km/h sprint of around 8.7 seconds, while it’s also capable of averaging 5.1L/100km and 115g/km of CO2 on the WLTP test cycle.

Once introduced further pure-combustion version will also be offered that are likely to consist of 1.5-litre both with and without a turbo.

Within, the first pictures show off the MG’s far-smarter cabin that gets four-hexagonal air vents that sit on the top of the dash. There’s also a huge 12.3-inch landscape-mounted infotainment system and a full 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster.

Range-topping Trophy trim models add rear privacy glass, larger 18-inch alloy wheels, heated faux leather electric-adjust seats and a 360-degree camera.

All versions will get the car-maker’s latest driver assist tech, including an advanced new AEB that detects pedestrians and cyclists.

Other standard kit includes lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and an adaptive cruise that incorporates traffic jam assist.

Six airbags with seat-belt reminders, pre-tensioners and load limiters, plus a tyre monitoring system should see the MG ZS in for a chance of receiving the full stars for safety in the ANCAP crash tests.

If you’re wondering where the full EV version is, this time round the MG ZE EV will be superseded by the MG S5 SUV which has already been leaked that is heavily related to the MG4 hatch, sitting on the same all-electric MSP platform.

Full pricing for the MG ZS Hybrid+ has yet to be revealed but in other markets the new electrified small SUV has been hit with a price rise that could impact on its sales performance Down Under.

Sweetening the deal for Australian buyers, MG Australia has recently introduced a market-leading 10-year/250,000km warranty across its line-up that includes the all-electric MG4 and MG ZS EV.
