Kia’s EV9 has stepped into the light: First pics of new electric SUV Concept surface

Kia’s new EV9 Concept has stepped into the light, with the all-electric SUV to take its place among Kia’s burgeoning EV family.

Kia’s biggest EV offering to date, the EV9 is expected to be about the same size as the Hyundai Palisade, and will share its important bits with Hyundai’s upcoming Ioniq 7.

We’ll know all the important stuff soon enough, with Kia planning on unveiling the Concept EV9 in full at LA’s AutoMobility on November 17.

So what can we expect? According to Kia, it will be “an intriguing glimpse into the future direction of the all-electric SUV, combining progressive design, state-of-the-art tech, and an advanced all-electric powertrain in one pioneering package.”

Which sounds pretty exciting. What’s more, there’s a “light, flexible and adaptive interior space” as well as a “radical new take on the traditional steering wheel” — the latter of which is unlikely to make it past Concept stage.

It will also act as the next evolution of the Kia brand, both abroad and in Australia, where the EV6 is preparing to launch.

But the EV6 is shaping up to be hot property when it goes on sale in Australia early in 2022. Kia has confirmed to EV Central that just 500 of the all-new electric crossovers will be delivered in Australia in 2022 – and none will be the much-hyped GT model that blasts to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds.
