Hyundai Ioniq 6 pricing confirmed; OTA updates standard
Hyundai has announced pricing and specifications for the Ioniq 6 that will fight the market-leading Tesla Model 3 in the growing EV space.
It will also be the first Hyundai to benefit from over-the-air software updates that promise improved functionality and tweaks without having to return to the dealership.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 will be priced from $74,000 plus on-road costs for the Dynamiq that will be offered in single-motor rear-wheel drive guise.

That makes it $2000 more expensive than the Ioniq 5 SUV with which the 6 shares its architecture and electrical system.
As with the recently-updated Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 6 gets a 77.4kWh battery that’s claimed to deliver up to 614km of WLTP range as a result of its more aerodynamically efficient sedan shape that Hyundai describes as an “electrified streamlined”.
It’s also loaded with equipment, including partial leather seats, alloy pedals, heads-up display, heated front seats, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, smart key entry and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 12.3-inch central infotainment screen. There are 18-inch alloy wheels with “eco” tyres designed to reduce rolling resistance.
There’s also Hyundai Bluelink, which provides remote smartphone connectivity and over-the-air software updates.
Safety equipment includes seven airbags, blind spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), exit assist, tyre pressure monitors, speed zone recognition and driver attention monitoring.
The single rear motor makes 168kW and 350Nm.
The Ioniq 6 will also be offered in more powerful dual-motor variants – badged Techniq and Epiq – that drive all four wheels.
They team a 165kW/350Nm rear motor with a 74kW/255Nm front motor for a combined 239kW and 605Nm.
The additional performance, weight and stickier tyres reduces the range to a still-respectable 519km.
The $83,500 Techniq adds 20-inch wheels with Pirelli P Zero tyres, sunroof, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel.
The $88,000 Ioniq 6 Epiq gets cameras instead of exterior side mirrors and a heat pump as part of the heating system that is claimed to be more efficient.
The Ioniq 6 uses an 800V electrical architecture that is among the fastest to charge of any electric vehicle. It can accept up to about 230kW of DC charge power and charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 18 minutes.
