BMW reveals first Aussie details of 2025 BMW iX: More expensive, more gear, more go, more range for Benz EQE and Audi Q6 fighter

BMW Australia has released first pricing and equipment details of the 2025 BMW iX ahead of the refreshed all-electric SUV’s mid-year local debut.

The cheapest model – and the only one confirmed so far – is the xDrive45 M Sport priced from $142,900 plus on-roads – $6000 more than the old xDrive 40 Sport it replaces.

The big news is the most affordable model gets more power, better performance, extra range and faster charging, with the dual-motors now pumping out 300kW (+60kW) and 700Nm (+70Nm) of torque.

That drops the 0-100km/h to just 5.1 seconds which is one second quicker than before.

Now featuring a larger 94.8kWh battery, in place of the old 76.6kWh power pack, the BMW iX xDrive45 M Sport can cover up to 602km on a single charge, around 182km more than the old xDrive40.

The new battery adopts a revised pre-conditioning feature and this is the first BMW to get semiconductors made of silicon carbide components that are clamed to boost efficiency.

The BMW iX can now also accept a brisker 175kW DC charge (up from 150kW), while the charging socket outlet gets new a manual release.

Design changes for the iX include a new grille with an illuminated surround, revised front and rear bumpers and updated LED headlamps with vertical daytime running lamps.

The M Sport pack is offered standard with the iX for the first time, replacing the Sport trim.

As well as the sportier pack, BMW has added Artic Race Blue, Dune Grey, 21-, 22- and 23-inch alloy wheels, with the base car getting 21-inch wheels.

Standard equipment Australian iX SUVs, includes 21-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlamps, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, an 18-speaker premium sound system, heated and massage seats, a panoramic roof and a wireless charger.

Options available for the BMW iX include a $6500 Executive Package, active Steering for $3000 and adaptive suspension ($4000).

Further variants of the refreshed BMW iX including the iX M70 will be detailed at a later date.
