Bargain electric car now $10k cheaper! 2024 MG4 gets prices slashed to $30,990 drive-away – but only for a limited time
The 2024 MG4 hatch is officially Australia’s most affordable EV following discounts of up to $10,425 which have been applied to the entry model, but value-driven buyers are urged to act quickly as the latest offer expires on October 31.
Announcing that the entry-level MG4 Excite 51 will now be priced from just $30,990 drive-away nationwide, the latest flash sale sees buyers pocket savings of between $8262 and $10,425, depending on the state.
Stealing the crown from the MG ZS EV Excite SUV, that had its prices cut back in August to $34,990 drive-away, the new MG4 Excite 51 is now between $4000 and $5000 cheaper than the entry Toyota Corolla Hybrid, and now costs about the same as a mid-spec Kia Cerato hatch, almost eliminating the long-standing price gap between EVs and combustion-powered vehicles.

As well as the huge cut for the entry model, MG Australia says that ‘factory bonuses’ have also been introduced, with as much as $8000 to be shaved off any remaining MY23 MG4s and a further $5000 lopped off the M24 builds, that include the Excite 64, Essence 64, Long Range 77 and XPower grades, with the discounts available until October 31.
The biggest headline price cut for the entry model applies to both the MY23 and MY24 models, with both the old and newer-build MG4 Excite priced from just $30,990 drive-away.
The new raft of discounts is the fifth time in 2024 the MG4 has had its prices revised in Australia, with the last change only seven weeks ago.
Early this year MG Australia introduced an industry-leading 10-year/250,000km vehicle warranty.
“We know that people may have been considering an EV but potentially have held off due to the cost now with this limited-time offer we’re giving everyone the opportunity to own an MG 4,” Giles Belcher, MG Motor Australia chief commercial officer, said when the new pricing was released.
