Polestar’s future range shown in greater detail
The rear ends of the Polestar 3 large SUV and Polestar 5 four-door GT have been revealed beside a shrouded Polestar 4 SUV coupe.
The Swedish-based pure electric brand is ramping up teaser images of its future range. Earlier this week it showed a detailed profile of the Polestar 3, its BMW iX-rivalling large EV SUV set to arrive in Australia in the third quarter of 2023.
The latest image hints at what a Polestar showroom will look like by 2025, the four pure EVs lined up in numerical order, starting with its currently on-sale Polestar 2 sedan. All the new vehicles are promised to have a range of over 600km.
SUV entry a major milestone
The Polestar 3 sees the brand’s first entry into the lucrative family SUV market, the five-seat dual motor large SUV set for a world premiere in October 2022. Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, has said the 3 is “a major milestone for our company” as it looks to ramp up production.
A translucent sheet shows basic details of the Polestar 4 SUV coupe for the first time, likely to rival the stylishly-shaped next-generation Porsche Macan EV. Markedly lower than the larger Polestar 3 SUV, it appears to adopt much of the Polestar 5’s rear end styling.
The 4 is set to launch in 2023, with Ingenlath stating it and the 3’s combined production volume is “expected above 160,000 vehicles per year” by 2025.
Four-door GT set for Goodwood
The Polestar 5 electric four-door GT – set to rival the Mercedes EQS, Tesla Model S and Lucid Air – is due to arrive in 2024 and we’re promised it’s “in the advanced stages of development.” A prototype will be shown and driven at next week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.
Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, said: “Selling already in 25 countries across the globe, Polestar has a unique position in the pure play EV market. We are a real company, not one based on slideshow promises.
“More than 55,000 Polestar cars are on the roads globally today and we are launching a stunning portfolio of three new models in just three years. These gorgeous EVs are all in advanced development stages, and we have the ability to produce great quality cars with our experienced industrial partners.”
