Fisker opens reservations for PEAR electric urban SUV
While it is yet to start production of its first electric vehicle, Fisker is now taking orders for its 2024 compact SUV, the PEAR.
The California company run by former BMW and Aston Martin designer Henrik Fisker is scheduled to commence the sale of its debut EV, mid-size Ocean SUV, in late 2022.
It is charging US$250 ($350) to reserve a PEAR. A second US$100 ($140) deposit is due later
At 4500mm long five-seat “urban EV”, Fisker is aiming for a US$29,900 ($41,800) starting price before taxes and incentives for the PEAR.

If that is achieved that, the PEAR – the name stands for Personal Electric Automotive Revolution – will be amongst the cheapest EVs on offer in North America.
In a teaser overhead pic (see above) Fisker outlined the principles behind the Pear concept:
“We pulled designers from every area of the company and started to research what are the needs of someone living in a large urban center. In the city, parking is tight and you can’t open your hatch, your gym bags smell, your pizza is getting cold, you sit there wasting gas in traffic, you want to quickly send a message that you’re running late, etc. We identified things that are annoying, things that add friction, things that take up time you can’t afford to give up. Then we started to work on what are all of the benefits we can provide through the design and Innovation in our vehicle. Things that will make our lives better, easier, less complicated.”
Of course, there’s still a long way to go to 2024 and the launch of the Pear and Fisker has some big hurdles to leap before then.
Not least is getting the Ocean into production this November at Magna-Steyr in Austria. Fisker has a starting price aim under US$40,000 ($58,000) for that vehicle.
The PEAR will be built closer to the California company’s home in Lordstown Ohio by Taiwanese conglomerate Foxconn. The target for production is a minimum 250,000 per annum.
The Lordstown Endurance ute is scheduled to be built at the same plant.
Fisker has previously teased three new models beyond the Ocean, including a ute called the Alaska, to be made by 2025.
“Our customer wants to take a step into the future with us,” the ever-ebullient Fisker CEO Henrik Fisker said. “We are opening up reservations for PEAR following continued demand.”
“PEAR will feature the very latest technology in a beautifully designed, affordable urban mobility device,” he added. “It’s an exciting vehicle and an exciting time for the company as we expand our line-up.”
