Can I charge an EV at home?
Yes. Absolutely.
In fact, you’d be foolish not to charge at home.
Charging at home is the cheapest way to keep an EV topped up with energy. It also means avoiding the inconvenience of visiting public chargers.
But a home wallbox is a must-have for EV drivers.
A regular powerpoint provides only 2.4kW of power at best, so fully charging a 100kWh EV battery will take more than 40 hours.
In contrast, a wallbox will typically provide between 7.4kW and 22kW, slashing charging time considerably.
It means that, even with a drained battery, an overnight charge will take most EV battery packs to 100 percent.
