Zeekr 7X uprated already! Next-gen tech boosts popular new electric mid-size SUV
Geely’s Zeekr has previewed some of the state-of-the-art tech that could give its models including the 7X a significant technical edge over rivals.
Zeekr has announced in recent days the new tech will be rolled out with the Zeekr 007 sedan and the 7GT Shooting Brake that has just been greenlit for right-hand drive markets.
The centrepiece of the huge updates is the adoption of more powerful 900-volt electrics.
The upgrade has previously been confirmed for the 2026 7X in China. Its now been announced the upgraded 007 sedan and 7GT wagon will land in Chinese showrooms in Q2 (April-June) this year.

The 900-volt electrics should allow Zeekr to unlock more power from the e-motors while enhancing efficiency and slashing charging times.
Full details will be revealed closer to launch, but it’s thought charging rates with the new hardware should drop to around 10 minutes for a 10-80 per cent refill of the 100kWh (Kirin) battery, with charging rates likely to easily exceed 500kW, a step up on the already rapid charging model.

Currently, with the existing 800V-volt tech used by the 7X SUV, a 10-80 per cent top-up takes 13 to 16 minutes at a rate up to 420kW.
Other changes to Zeekr’s 7 series include adopting a punchier Nvidia Drive Thor-U chip in place of the current Nvidia Orin X processor that allows both the 007 sedan and 7GT wagon to adopt the car giant’s latest Geely Afari Smart Driving (G-ASD) tech.
The supercomputer upgrades the advanced semi-autonomous cruise control by enabling it to navigate through parking garages, roundabouts and even recognise tollgates and car park barriers.
With customer deliveries already underway Down Under, the entry-level 7X RWD comes with a 75kWh battery for a 566km WLTP-verified range. Drive is via a rear-mounted single electric motor that musters 310kW of power and 440Nm of torque.
The mid-spec Long Range RWD keeps the single e-motor and comes with a larger 100kWh battery for a bigger 615km of range.

Finally, at the top of the tree is the Performance AWD gets dual motors that pump out 475kW and 710Nm for a rapid 3.5 second sprint from 0-100km/h and can cover up to 543km on a charge.
In Australia the RWD is priced from $57,900 plus on-road costs, $63,900 for the Long Range RWD and $72,900 for the flagship 7X Performance AWD.
For now, the 7X is just one of three Zeekr models sold in Australia alongside the X compact electric SUV and the 009 large people-mover.
