Countdown to Zero: Ahead of Aussie launch, Chinese premium brand Lynk & Co reveals first EV
The sleek electric sedan that is a big chance to lead Chinese-Swedish premium Lynk & Co’s Australian launch has been revealed in official teaser photography.
Dubbed the Lynk & Co Zero, the 5.0 metre sedan shown on-test in China’s scenic Yellow Mountains is the company’s first battery electric vehicle.
Based on parent Geely’s SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture), Chinese auto media report the Zero is expected to come with a 580kW dual motor powertrain and have a claimed 656km range.

A tyre-shredding quad motor version with around 900kW and a 2.0 sec 0-100km/h time is also mooted.
Geely, which also owns Volvo, Polestar, Lotus and others, announced back in 2021 Lynk & Co would go on-sale in Australia in 2025.
While there’s been nothing of substance offered publicly since then, EV Central understands progress has been made on establishing a local distribution network.
It is understood the desire had been to launch in Australia with a BEV rather than the plug-in hybrids that have been Lynk & Co’s product cornerstone since its 2016 launch.
Since then the brand has focussed its sales in northern Europe and China.
The Zero has had a bit of a weird gestation, first appearing as the Lynk & Co Zero concept and first model based on SEA back in 2021.
But as a production car it morphed into the foundation model of another Geely start-up, Zeekr and was dubbed the 001.
The Lynk & Co Zero has now re-merged with fresh styling and is expected to have its global unveil at the company’s Gothenburg headquarters in Sweden next month.
With Zeekr planning to launch in Australia by 2025 there is a chance the Zero and 001 could sell against each other in the Aussie market.
Lynk & Co and Zeekr are just two of many Chinese brands investigating Australian sales including Leapmotor, GAC, Nio, Xpeng and Geely itself. Brands already established in Australia such as BYD also have plans to introduce spin-offs.
The Zero will be stuffed with technology including an 800V electrical system, autonomous driving ability and cloud-based mobility features (ok, not sure what they are, but it sounds impressive).
