Wild all-electric Kia Vision Meta Turismo revealed: Sleek EV concept paves way for supercar-quick four-seat GT

The sleek and futuristic Kia Vision Meta Turismo concept has been unwrapped at a VIP event in Korea.

The sleek concept reveals both the design direction of future Kia models and could signal that the Korean car-making giant is plotting a sporty battery-powered replacement for its Stinger GT.

Boasting a supercar-esque front styling that blends sharp angular styling and a dramatic front and rear glazing that stretches from front to rear, the Vision Met Turismo looks like nothing else in the Kia range.

Hotly tipped to preview a production sports sedan that will be introduced to celebrate the car-maker’s 80th anniversary, the new four-door supercar is said to be the most extreme expression yet of the brand’s Opposites United design language.

When the new swoopy sedan lands, it’s been suggested it will slot into the line-up between the current EV6 and the EV9 SUV and is set to be badged either the EV7 or EV8 badge.

Following on from the combustion-powered Kia Stinger that was dropped from the range in 2022, the new model has once again been tailored to appeal to enthusiasts and those who love to drive.

Kia has not released any powertrain details for its new halo model, but it’s expected to debut the firm’s next-generation e-motors, inverters and battery technology that should see the four-door GT narrow the performance gap with more exotic rivals like the Porsche Taycan, Polestar 5 and Lotus Emeya.

Elsewhere in the Kia line-up, the concept is tipped to donate its brash frontal styling, including its ultra-thin LED daytime running lamps that run across the front fenders, to future models.

Meanwhile, the new simpler grille treatment is set to be replicated as the firm begins phasing out its old trademark Tiger Nose.

There’s no word yet if the real thing will also replicate the Vision Meta Turismo’s cab-forward profile that is reminiscent of the Jaguar I-Pace.

If it does, expect the production four-door sedan to be class-leading for interior space.

Inside, it’s thought much of the concept’s minimalist cabin will be lost in the move to production reality, but the yoke steering wheel and steer-by-wire tech are set to make it to production.

Hammering home the message the new concept is an EV for drivers is a bespoke seat for the pilot.

While it’s not known what the unusual joystick control is for, Kia has confirmed there will be the choice of a Speedster, Dreamer and Gamer mode.

The latter is thought to be an autonomous driving setting that will allow the driver to read, watch TV, or go online and play video games, with the hologram graphics and smart glass enabling the gamer to see the graphics projected above the road.

Other fresh advances include a full-width 3D head-up display and holographic driver assistant, indicating how Kia will evolve its future cabin design and some of the tech that will be embedded.
