Toyota teases 2027 Kluger seven-seat EV! Or is it the electric Toyota LandCruiser SE?
Toyota North America has begun teasing an all-new large SUV that’s hotly tipped to preview the Kluger all-electric three-row family SUV launching in 2027.
Or could it be the production version of the Toyota LandCruiser SE EV that first broke cover in 2023?
Whatever its identity, the new model is being built to sit above both the recently facelifted bZ4X and the larger bZ4X Touring that will make its debut in Australia later this year.
It has been created to help Toyota tackle the likes of the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9 and the Volvo EX90 that blend zero-emission driving with seating for up to seven.

The first teaser of the as-yet unnamed vehicle that focuses on its rear-end reveals the large SUV will come with blocky styling and a full-width twin-element LED lightbar.
Other details include a pair of roof rails and a shark fin antenna, plus an unusual wider lower body.
Captioned with just “something new is on the horizon”, it’s thought to preview a production-ready EV that should be badged Kluger in Australia.
The Kluger badge has been employed on Toyota’s large family SUV in Australiua through four generations and more than 20 years.
Promisingly for Toyota, our August 2025 story predicting the incoming electric Kluger is one of the most consistently popular on EV Central.
The new model teased here is almost certain to be one of the two three-row flagship SUVs that will be built at the car giant’s Georgetown, Kentucky, factory in the US.
That narrows down the mystery model to either the showroom version of the 2023 LandCruiser SE concept, or the equally all-new battery-powered Kluger EV, that will be sold as the Highlander EV in the US.
Both the LandCruiser SE and Kluger EV are primed to be based on a car-like monocoque platform, with the former measuring in at an imposing 5150mm long.
That’s associated with a generous 3050mm wheelbase for loads of interior space.
Maximising headroom, the new pair of Toyota SUVs are tipped to come with an ultra-slim battery pack that, in the show car, provided for a class-leading 1000km of range.
As well as being based on an all-new platform the new family of large SUVs will be among the first Toyotas to use a modular design that will employ large parts made using gigacasting processes, that increase stiffness, while reducing weight, complexity and cost.
Toyota Australia already imports US-built vehicles Down Under, including the current Kluger that has been sourced from a factory in Indiana since 2013.

That opens the door for the new mystery EV to land here.
The local outfit has already confirmed as well as launching the bZ4X Touring, a battery-electric HiLux will also land in 2026, with a zero-emission version of the C-HR touching down in 2027.
More details on the latest Toyota EV are expected to be released by Toyota North America in the build-up to the new large SUV’s launch in the coming months.
