Production 478kW Genesis GV60 Magma revealed: Boiling hot electric hatch is headed for Australia!
The high-performance 2026 Genesis GV60 Magma EV has been launched in Europe and is headed our way in early 2026!
Essentially the Hyundai luxury brand’s take on the IONIQ 5 N in a compact hatch body based on the standard GV60 EV, it will pose a serious challenge to the Porsche Macan, Tesla Model Y Performance and Alpine A390.
The first car created by Genesis’ new Magma high-performance sub-brand, the new Genesis GV60 Magma has been developed alongside the latest upgraded Kia EV6 GT.

It sits 15mm lower than the standard GV60 and gets larger 21-inch forged alloy wheels and wider, stickier Pirelli P Zero tyres.
Beneath the skin, the sportiest Genesis yet shares its mighty powertrain with the IONIQ 5 N, combining an 84kWh battery with dual electric motors producing 478kW and 770Nm of torque in its Boost mode.
It can launch from 0-100km/h in a supercar-baiting 3.4 seconds, while the top speed is capped at 260km/h.

Recharging the GV60 Magma should also be rapid, with a 10 to 80 per cent refill at speeds of up to 240kW DC taking around 18 minutes.
Maximising engagement behind the wheel, the GV60 Magma comes with Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) that allows the driver use the steering wheel’s paddle shifters to simulate gear changes.
It even includes a faux rev limit and engine braking.
New High Performance Brake Control (HPBC) tech is said to guarantee a consistent brake pedal feel even after extreme hot-lapping, juggling regeneration with real mechanical braking.

Offering three driving modes – Sprint, GT and an individual My mode – drivers have the option to adjust the electronic limited-slip differential (e-LSD) and stability control.
On track there’s also a Drift mode, plus a special Magma setting for hot-lapping – not that the GV60 Magma is a track-bred animal.
Engineers say the fastest-ever Genesis boasts both adaptive dampers and hydraulic bushings to absorb the worst of a road’s imperfections.
There’s also noise cancelling tech, sound-insulating glass and heavy-duty door seals to help enhance the feeling of the “luxury high-performance car” Genesis set out to create.

Inside, the GV60 comes with Nappa leather and suede bucket seats including contrasting Magma Orange stitching. The sportiest Genesis yet keeps the unusual crystal gear selector.
There’s also a new steering wheel that gets vibrant orange buttons for the drive modes, while the 27-inch panoramic screens incorporate a Magma display that includes the usual data needed for fast driving, plus read-outs for the motor, battery temperature and G-forces.
It’s thought Genesis will be hoping the arrival of the new GV60 Magma will add some much-needed spotlight to its slow-selling GV60 range, which has seen just 15 of the battery-electric small SUV find homes so far this year.
Once established, the new Magma performance sub-brand will roll out a full range of rivals for the likes of BMW M, Mercedes-AMG and Audi RS.

The Korean brand hopes to expand from being a niche operator to a major player in markets like Australia.
There’s no word yet on pricing for the Genesis GV60 Magma but in European markets it’s been hotly tipped the new fast electric SUV will be priced in line with the Porsche Macan Electric.
That means pricing is expected to kick off from around $130,000 plus on-roads.
The current two-model GV60 line-up in Australia is priced at $103,382 for the Lux AWD and $110,384 for the Performance AWD. All pricing plus on-road costs.
