Polestar 2 to be replaced by compact SUV! 2027 Polestar 7 will fight Volvo EX30, BMW iX2, Mercedes-Benz EQA and Mini Countryman E
Sino-Swedish EV brand Polestar has announced more details of its all-new 2027 Polestar 7, confirming its compact luxury SUV will be made in Europe, rather than China to escape import tariffs.
Created to rival the Mini Countryman E, Mercedes-Benz EQA, as well as the BMW iX1/iX2, the new Polestar 7 will also compete and share plenty with in-house rivals the Volvo EX30, Smart #3 and Zeekr X, including the Geely-sourced SEA architecture.
Picking up where the Polestar 4 left off, the new Polestar 7 will come with radical styling in a bid to make an impression in a super competitive class.

The 7 is the first model in the second wave of Polestar models and the first to be designed under the direction of new Polestar design boss Philipp Römers.

Essentially, it is an indirect replacement for the foundation Polestar model the 2, which was originally designed to be a Volvo and only later transferred to the EV start-up.
“Polestar is known for its progressive design, with each car standing out and creating its own buzz – so too will Polestar 7,” said Römers.
“It is incredibly exciting to bring Polestar’s design ethos to a new segment. Polestar 7 will be everything our customers expect from us, both in terms of design and performance.”

One of the highlights of its new styling is the new Polestar 7 is expected to follow the Polestar 4 and delete its rear windscreen for a digital rear view camera, allowing designers to indulge in a more striking shape.
Powertrains and full specification have not been revealed but it’s thought – considering its 2027 arrival – the Polestar 7 could debut new tech for the SEA platform.
That could mean unlocking faster charging and more advanced driver assist tech that’s so far alien to the compact SUV class.

Polestar will be keen to have yet another new model in its line-up, especially since the brand is expected to announce lower-than-expected sales for the Polestar 3 and 4 SUVs.
Polestar says that thanks to the arrival of the cars like the 7 and Porsche Taycan-rivalling Polestar 5 later this year and the 6 sports car due in 2016, it is on track for 30-35 per cent growth over the next three years.
Also helping it boost sales is a plan to increase its number of retail spaces by 75 per cent from now until 2026, although there’s no word how this decision will affect Australia.
