New Tesla Model Y coming in 2024: reports
A new Tesla Model Y could be just around the corner, with new reports suggesting a significantly refreshed version of one of the country’s top-selling EVs will go into production in 2024.
The Model Y is relatively new to Australia, almost doubling Tesla’s sales when it launched here in the second half of 2022.
But new reports out of the USA suggest the model is already in line for a major update, with changes to the exterior and interior coming soon.
All should be revealed soon enough, with Elon Musk set to unveil his “Masterplan 3” at a Tesla Investor Day in Texas today.
While Musk hasn’t confirmed the subjects he will be touching on, he has previously detailed his mid-term and long-term vision for the company at similar events.
The new Model Y has reportedly been codenamed “Project Juniper” at Tesla, and if true, should join the Model 3 update, known internally as “Project Highland”.
According to the reports, company sources have confirmed changes to the look of the vehicle, both inside and out, are on the table, but there has been no word on mechanical or battery changes.
The reports suggest the updates are Tesla’s response to new competition from an increasingly crowded EV market.
While the Model Y is forecast for 2024, the new Model 3 is expected to go into production in Shanghai in September this year.
