More details of the Mazda EZ-60 SUV revealed: Could this be the most convincing Mazda EV yet?

Yet more of the inbound 2026 Mazda EZ-60 have been revealed ahead of its official debut at the Shanghai motor show today (April 23).

The latest previews show off Mazda’s next-generation cabin design, which remains faithful to the Mazda Arata concept from 2024.

Fresh intel also suggests the new EZ-60 measures in at 4850mm long, 1935mm wide and stands 1620mm tall with a 2902mm wheelbase for plenty of cabin space.

Inside, the cabin is almost as remarkable as its handsome exterior, with the EX-60 mirroring  the show car and getting a huge 26.45-inch 55K infotainment touchscreen that also incorporates the instrument cluster.

Physical buttons are absent for the complete minimalist look, with the climate control, media and minor functions all operated via the big screen, or natural voice control.

When launched, the new Mazda will also come with a 23-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system, that includes rear touchscreen to allow passengers in the second row to play their music and adjust the climate settings.

The boot, meanwhile, can carry up to 350 litres but expands to 2036 litres with the second row stowed. There’s also a useful 126 litre of space in the frunk – of the electric version, at least.

Built as part of the Mazda-Changan Chinese venture, the new EZ-60 sits on the Changan-developed EPA platform which means as well as an EV powertrain it comes with a plug-in hybrid option.

The latter combines a 72kW 1.5-litre petrol engine with a punchy 190kW and combines it with a 31.7kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery that provides for an EV-only range of around 160km.

Full details of the EV versions will be saved for the Shanghai unveil on April 23 when the new EZ-60 will be pitched as a Tesla Model Y rival.

It will be exported outside of China to Europe, including the right-hand drive UK market, which means it could eventually be offered Down Under, alongside the next-generation Mazda CX-5 and the CX-60.

Closely related to the Deepal S07, in China the Mazda EZ-60 is set to be priced from around 200,000 yuan ($A43,000).
