More details of Mitsubishi’s Aussie EV outed!
Fresh patents have revealed Mitsubishi Australia’s incoming EV arriving in the second half of 2026 will carry its popular ASX nameplate in a bid to ensure its mass acceptance.
A Mitsubishi trademark application to IP Australia earlier this year for the ASX GT-e designation is the clearest sign yet the EV to be supplied by Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn in 2026 will feature a name basically familiar to buyers.

It was announced back in May that Foxconn was supplying an EV to Mitsubishi inn Australia and New Zealand and it is expected to be a rebadged version of the small Foxtron Model B.
Timing is locked in for an H2 2026 arrival.

This is a completely different vehicle to the new-gen ASX ICE model that arrives in Australia before the end of 2025. It is based on the Renault Captur SUV.
Despite still more than year away from launch here, much is known about the inbound ASX EV.
The Model B has been designed by Italy’s Pininfarina and comes based on the Foxtron MIH platform.
Set to measure in at around 4300mm long with a 2800mm wheelbase, the electric ASX should feature a 170kW single e-motor combined with a 60kWh battery to provide a claimed 450km range.
All-wheel drive dual-motor versions could also be offered, plus a long range variant with a larger powerpack that should see the ASX comfortably exceed 500km on a full charge.
Meanwhile, the Renault Captur-based ASX could come with both the hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

The new ASX GT-e follows Mitsubishi’s pledge to invest an incredible $US10bn ($15.5b) to make a new generation of electrified vehicles.
It promises to roll-out nine electrified vehicles from now until 2030.
