Jaguar charges I-Pace for 2021
The highly-rated Jaguar I-Pace battery electric vehicle has undergone a minor series of updates for the 2021 model year.
Key among them is an improvement in home charging capability – as long as you have access to three-phase power.
Then, the new 11kW (AC) wallbox can add 53km of range (WLTP) per hour to the I-Pace’s 90kWh lithium-ion battery and totally refuel in 8.6 hours.
If you’re on single phase power then you continue with a 7kW charger for which the key numbers are 35km and 12.75 hours..
Meanwhile, 50kW fast charging will add 63km of range in 15 minutes, while a 100kW charger will add up to 127km over the same period
The I-Pace’s maximum dual-motor outputs are unchanged at 294kW and 6969Nm as is its 90kWh battery and claimed range at 470km between recharges (although Jaguar offers a software tweak that lengthens that by up to 20km).

Over the air updates are now available for charging and battery management as well as telematics and infotainment.
Compared to its key competition, the Mercedes-Benz EQC, Audi e-tron and Tesla Model X, the Jaguar wins on kilowatts-hours per dollar, the best battery efficiency in range terms and undercuts the others on starting price.
And yep, that takes into account a price rise. The S will starts the ball rolling at $128,650 (up from $124,100), then comes the SE at $138,460 (up from $135,400) and the flagship HSE at $152,060 (up from $146,000).
Other changes to the 2021 I-Pace include a new generation Pivi Pro entertainment system with three separate screens that Jaguar says has the ease of use of a smartphone and self-learning navigation (the latter is yet to be confirmed for Australia).

Jaguar is also offering more connectivity thanks to wireless device charging (but it’s optional), embedded Spotify and Bluetooth for two phones at the same time.
There’s a new 3D surround camera standard and what Jaguar calls a ‘Clearsight’ rear view mirror is optional. Air ionisation is new and optional too.
There are few external signs that I-Pace has been updated, although the S does swap from 18- to 19-inch wheels.
