GWM Tank 300 plug-in: Full spec and technical details confirmed, including 115km EV range
GWM has confirmed full specifications for its Tank 300 Hi4-T plug-in hybrid, reinforcing its aggressive push into Australia’s emerging electrified 4×4 segment after earlier resetting pricing for PHEV off-roaders to below $60,000 drive-away.
As previously announced, the ladder-frame SUV will be offered in Lux and Ultra grades, priced at $55,990 drive-away and $59,990 drive-away respectively under a national launch offer.
That positioning significantly undercuts electrified body-on-frame rivals and places the Tank 300 Hi4-T into the conversation with well-equipped diesel dual-cab utes and traditional large 4×4 wagons.

With final specifications now locked in, GWM has confirmed the Tank 300 Hi4-T pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with its Hi4-T plug-in hybrid system for combined outputs of 300kW and 750Nm, channelled through a nine-speed hybrid automatic transmission and part-time four-wheel drive system with low range.
The claimed 0–100km/h time is 6.3 seconds, while combined fuel consumption is listed at a highty theoretical 1.9L/100km on the NEDC cycle.
A 37.11kWh nickel manganese cobalt battery delivers a quoted EV-only range of 115km and a total driving range of up to 955km. CO2 emissions are rated at 43g/km.

Charging capability includes DC fast charging at up to 50kW, with GWM claiming a 30 to 80 per cent recharge time of 24 minutes, while AC charging from 15 to 100 per cent is quoted at 6.5 hours.
Vehicle-to-load functionality of up to 6kW is also standard.
Unlike many plug-in hybrids positioned primarily as urban SUVs, the Tank 300 Hi4-T retains a body-on-frame chassis and live rear axle, with a rear differential lock standard across the range and a front differential lock added on the Ultra. Braked towing capacity is rated at 3000kg, with a payload of 610kg.
Standard Lux equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, leather-accented seats, adaptive cruise control and a comprehensive active safety suite.
The Ultra adds Nappa leather trim, heated and ventilated front seats, driver massage and memory functions, additional underbody protection and a heated steering wheel.
Five exterior colours will be available, including a new Sundrift Sand finish, with metallic paint attracting a $595 surcharge.
The Tank 300 Hi4-T is scheduled to arrive in Australian dealerships from early April 2026.
