China’s Geely reveals new electric Radar ute
China’s giant and fast-expanding Geely Group will strip the camouflage away from its new Radar electric dual-cab ute on July 12.
The size of a Toyota HiLux , the Radar has been teased multiple times via preview photography.

After the covers come off next week and some more details are hopefully revealed, it will go on-sale in China later this year.
There is a chance the Radar could come to Australia given Geely is already represented here by Volvo and Polestar and will at least add Lynk & Co by 2025.
There’s no doubt it will generate interest in Australia given our love for utes and rising interest in electrification.
Already there’s been plenty of local interest stirred up by the Rivian R1T, Fiord F-150 Lightning and the Chevrolet Silverado EV.
Both Ford and Toyota have also spoken openly about electrification plans for their top selling utes, respectively the Ranger and HiLux.
Little technical detail about the Radar has been released as yet, but it is expected to be based on the SEA electric architecture that is spreading through much of Geely’s burgeoning portfolio.
SEA is highly versatile and available in different sizes, so the Radar could be front-, rear- or dual- or triple-motor all-wheel drive and use 400V or 800V recharging.
Apart from the previously mentioned brands, Geely also owns – among others – sportscar brand Lotus, Malaysia’s Proton, the taxi cab maker, the London Electric Vehicle Company and Zeekr.
Radar is a new subsidiary brand of the privately-owned Geely Group rolled out last month.
Geely has said the new brand will focus on the adventure segment with a family of EVs. That suggests the Radar will be more about recreation than heavy-duty load hauling.
By the way the name is allegedly an acronym for Rational, Alone, Discovery, Accompany, and Romantic.
