Aussie BYD Atto 3 fans offered chance to be first in line for new electric SUV
Local fans of the Chinese BYD brand are being offered the chance to get to the head of the queue for the new Atto 3 electric SUV.
The BYD Atto 3 launches tomorrow (Saturday) night at a cocktail party in Sydney, with full pricing and performance details to be announced and the ordering function to be opened on the website of local sales agent EVdirect.
But ahead of the launch evdirect has made contact with subscribers to its website offering them the chance to be among the first to purchase an Atto 3.

The boss of EVdirect, Luke Todd, has previously claimed 15,000 expressions of interest for the Atto 3. Considering the brand is largely unknown in Australia, that’s an impressive number.
In the email, anyone potentially interested in buying an Atto 3 is asked to email EVdirect by midday Saturday with their name and contact number and the word “LOYALTY” in the subject line.
After the 7pm when the pricing, performance, warranty and delivery times are published an order can be placed at the website.
“It is as simple as that!” the EVdirect email says.
“Our team will then match your order with the email you have sent and your vehicle will be
prioritised for the earliest delivery possible.”
“Thank you again for your loyal support and we are pleased to be launching the BYD Atto 3
into the Australian market.”
Finance offers to buyers will also be available through EVdirect. There is no suggestion BYD fans being offered the chance to get to the head of the line will also get a discount – just a chance to be one of the first to own what is shaping up to be the most affordable battery electric vehicle in Australia.
Response to the email will also give evdirect a chance to gauge on Saturday just how much buying interest is out there.
Based on BYD’s new e-Platform 3.0, the five-seater Atto 3 is available overseas with a choice of 50.1kWh
and 60.5kWh Blade battery packs that provide a claimed range up to 430km and 510km. Australian specification is yet to be confirmed.
It is powered by a 150kW/310Nm e-motor that enables 0-100km/h acceleration in 7.2 seconds.
