Lucid’s Project Gravity teased: Electric SUV coming soon
Lucid Motors used the tail end of today’s launch of its Air sedan to preview the next model in its soon-to-grow line-up, teasing its Project Gravity SUV, which will rival the Tesla Model X.
Almost nothing is known about the SUV to date – though it is excepted to share its battery, performance and range specifications with the Air – but that hasn’t stopped company boss Peter Rawlinson from making some bold promises.
“It’s important we look ahead to the future of the company,” he said. “There is going to be a beguiling range of vehicles that follow the Air, and they will all feature the most advanced EV technology on the planet. That is the DNA of Lucid Motors.”
Still at least two years away, the Project Gravity SUV should match the Air’s more impressive specifications, including its 900-volt architecture, ability to accrue 500km in driving range in just 20 minutes, and its 800km-plus driving range.
It also promises to be fast, given the Lucid Air will knock off the sprint to 60mph (around 98km/h) in just 2.5 seconds in its most powerful guise, owing largely to the massive 805kW on offer from its dual ActiveCore motors.
Lucid Motors is yet to detail an Australian launch schedule.
