Taycan the pista…

Mamma mia! Italian magazine Quattroruote has broken home-ground records with Porsche’s first EV. In its June issue the respected monthly revealed that the Taycan is the fastest four-door ever tested at its pista di prova near Milan.

Driving the most powerful Turbo S version of the EV, Quattroruote managed a best lap of the magazine’s very own 2.6km Vairano test track in a fraction under 1 minute 15 seconds. This time beat the previous record, set by the BMW M5 in 2018, by almost eight-tenths of a second.

At the same time the Taycan Turbo S set a new EV benchmark for what the magazine likes to label the Vairanoring. The Porsche demolished the previous best, set by the Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor in 2019, by more than six seconds.

Quattroruote’s test driver also managed to best Porsche’s blistering fast 2.8 second claim for 0-100km/h acceleration by two-tenths of a second. The test driver’s notes praised the Taycan Turbo S’s brakes, steering and handling.

The Italian magazine’s very thorough evaluation also included on-road measurement of the Porsche’s energy use and driving range. Its consumption was just under 28kWh/100km and its driving range 342km, figures close to the official test results.
