Roarsome: Listen to the new 2028 BMW M3 EV … could there be an inline-six turbo lurking beneath the bonnet of this zero-emission next-gen super sedan?
The latest tease of the white-hot 2028 BMW M3 EV has revealed the new all-electric super-sedan will feature a bombastic soundtrack inspired by BMW M cars of the past powered by its trademark inline six-cylinder petrol.
Releasing a video of the BMW M3 EV prototype, the German car-maker’s high-performance division teased its synthesised six-cylinder soundtrack towards the end of the video.
It even revealed how it will mimic the turbo spool of the current car as the car virtually builds in revs.
Eagle-eyed viewers have also suggested the BMW M car will also come with shift paddles for simulated gear shifting, something introduced by the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N.

BMW M has yet to explicitly confirm simulated shifts will be part of its repertoire, but the warm reception they’ve means it’s almost a dead cert for the German super sedan.
Based on the BMW Vision Neue Klasse that was shown at the 2023 Munich motor show, the M3 EV prototype looks far wider with even bigger wheels than the concept.
Beneath the skin, the BMW M3 will feature quad-motors that should see it muster more than 746kW (1000kW).
