New Skoda Elroq RS revealed! Hot electric SUV is the quickest Skoda to 100km/h and its fastest-charging EV yet

The all-new 2025 Skoda Elroq RS has been unveiled and instantly become the Czech brand’s quickest-accelerating RS and fastest recharging EV.

Despite earlier reports predicting it would come with a single e-motor powertrain, the mid-size SUV comes packing with the same dual-motor all-wheel drive hardware as the flagship Enyaq ES and pumps out an impressive 250kW.

With that level of power, the Elroq RS can launch from 0-100km/h in just 5.4 seconds – 0.1sec quicker than its Enyaq RS and 1.2sec ahead of the standard Elroq 85.

Powered by a new 84kWh battery, Skoda says the Elroq RS can cover up to 550km on the European WLTP test cycle, not far off the 562km claimed range for the Elroq 85x.

Range is not the only highlight of the new power pack, Skoda says the Elroq RS can be topped up at a rate of up to 185kW – 10kW more than the previous fastest-charging EVs in its range.

The Volkswagen Group-owned brand says that translates into a 10-80 per cent recharge that takes 26 minutes, around two minutes quicker than the standard Elroq with an 82kWh battery.

Using the standard 11kW AC on-board charger, Skoda says a 0-100 per cent top up takes around eight hours.

Ensuring the chassis can keep up with the extra punch of the new powertrain, engineers have upgraded the standard car’s suspension and lowered the Elroq by 15mm over the front axle and around 10mm at the rear.

As standard, the latest RS gets adaptive dampers that provide for up to 15 different levels of firmness.

More powerful stoppers have also been added. There are larger front discs with new two-piston callipers slotting in behind bigger 21-inch alloy wheels. Sadly, on the rear axle the Elroq RS still makes do with a pair of less sophisticated drum brakes .

The final piece of the dynamic puzzle is the addition of a retuned steering system which boosts responses.

When introduced, the Elroq RS will feature new drive modes that include a traction setting for light off-roading. Two soundscapes are available – ‘Sport’ and ‘Futuristic’.

In the flesh it’s hard to mistake the new RS for the regular Elroq. The sportiest battery-powered mid-sizer has a more aggressive front bumper that incorporates body-coloured L-shaped intakes within it.

At the rear a reshaped bumper has also been added that introduces a full-width reflector.

Other tell tales are front fender RS badging, lots of gloss black highlights and, in the case of the show car the Mamba Green paint that’s only offered on the Czech brand’s sportiest models.

Inside, there are heated sport seats wrapped in fake suede microfibre, while an RS-branded steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, carbon-fibre-style trim and green stitching are all present and correct.

Choose the Elroq RS and you get  a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen and smaller 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster that both employ RS-specific graphics.

There’s no word yet on what Australian versions will get but in Europe the Elroq RS bags massage seats, three-zone climate control, a 12-speaker Canton sound system, 45-watt USB-C ports, a hands-free tailgate and matrix LED headlamps.

Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and blind spot monitoring and remote auto parking are also standard in Europe.

Arriving in global markets later this year, the 2025 Skoda Elroq RS remains unconfirmed by Skoda Australia for a launch here.

However, the local outfit has expressed an interest in bringing in the hot SUV, confirming it is very much on its radar.
