Meet the Alpha Wolf, arguably the coolest electric ute created
There’s no shortage of electric utes currently under development – and EV newcomer Alpha has just added the Wolf to that growing list.
And it could be the coolest ute never to have an engine.

While it’s a lot smaller than the Hummers, Rivians, Lordstowns, Bollingers and Cybertrucks that are dominating the EV pickup truck headlines, the Californian-based start-up has created arguably one of the best-looking load luggers with its two-seater Wolf.
Like other Alpha EVs there’s a retro theme throughout but with a healthy dose of modern design and technology to earn it a seat at the EV table.
There are hints of Subaru Brumby in its stumpy two-door physique, yet at the same time the Alpha Wolf has ample muscle courtesy of bulging wheel arches and a stocky stance. Recessed door handles, LED lighting and clean lines complete the modern design.
Described as a “fun utility truck”, the all-electric Alpha Wolf uses the EV architecture of the Ace coupe, which also spawned the off-road-infused Jax.
The base model Wolf drives only the front wheels with a single electric motor.
But there’s also an AWD model that adds a rear motor that steps up the performance and lowers the 0-60mph (96km/h) time to 6.2 seconds.
It will be offered with either a 75kWh battery or 85kWh unit, the latter increasing the range to almost 450km.
Like the Jax, the Wolf is designed to get its chunky mud terrain tyres dirty, Alpha pitching it as “a solid four-wheel drive utility truck without the carbon emissions”.
The Wolf is claimed to tow 1360kg and its load bed is 1652mm long, 1490mm wide and 397mm deep. Or you can add a solar panel for added electricity on the run.
Inside, there’s seating for two and a minimalistic dashboard that incorporates a sizeable central infotainment screen arranged in a portrait configuration. There’s also a small digital instrument cluster in front of the driver.
Alpha says there are ample charging ports for gadgets as well as sound system speakers that can be replaced over time.
The Wolf is priced from US$36,000 to US$46,000, which is around $46,500 to $60,000 before taxes.
No word on if it will be sent to Australia, although Alpha appears heavily focused on the North American market for now.
