Lucid Air starts production, makes acting debut in Goliath
As production of the Lucid Air begins, the luxury electric vehicle has also made its television acting debut.
The Air is appearing in the fourth series of the Amazon Prime series Goliath as the chauffer-driven limousine of one of the main characters.
Goliath stars Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton as an eccentric lawyer and this series is set in San Francisco close to Lucid’s Silicon Valley headquarter.
While there was little or no pre-publicity for the Air’s appearance, it has been spotted and highlighted by EV observers and anoraks since the series dropped in late September.
Using it as a limo certainly underlines Lucid’s statements that it sees the car as a Mercedes-Benz S-class or EQS rival rather than Tesla Model S rival.
Meanwhile, Lucid made a much bigger deal about the start of production at its new Casa Grande plant in Arizona, also in late September. Deliveries are due to begin to customers late October.
First cars scheduled off the line are 520 introductory Dream Editions, but GT and Pure models will follow. So far, Lucid reports more than 13,000 reservations for the car have been made.

The start of production follows on from the recent confirmation of an official EPA range between recharges up to 837km.
“I’m delighted that production cars endowed with this level of efficiency are currently driving off our factory line ,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO, Lucid Group.
There are two facilities at Casa Grande; the Advanced Manufacturing Plant (AMP-1) and the Lucid Powertrain Manufacturing Plant (LPM-1).
AMP-1 was officially commissioned by Arizona governor Doug Ducey during what was dubbed Lucid Production Preview Week. Customers, analysts, investors, and members of the media were given the opportunity to be some of the first to test drive the Lucid Air.
