The new leak suggests MG4 hatchback will benefit from the same cabin architecture and technology that heralds a new dash design, larger digital instrument cluster and infotainment, fresh door cards and a different centre console.

Finally, the MG4 will boast a set of new seats.

Most will welcome the supersized 10.25-inch driver display and the bigger 12.8-inch infotainment that are both an improvement over the current 7.0-inch cluster and 10.25 touchscreen.

More changes boosting the cabin’s functionality are revised physical buttons below the infotainment that control the temperature, fan speed, volume and front and rear demister.

Below that is a centre console that features a taller design and a gear selector that sits alongside the wireless phone charger. A lower shelf underneath boasts stowage space.

Like the MG S5 SUV, it is thought designers will have upped the perception of quality with soft-touch surfaces, while the steering gets revised controls, a refreshed spoke and new rim design.

In Brazil there’s also the choice of black or beige trim.

In Australia it has already been revealed that the 2026 MG4 will be slimmed down to just a 64kWh battery in either rear-wheel drive form.

A dual-motor powertrain will be reserved for the flagship MG4 XPower.

Lowering the price of admission for the nameplate will be the arrival of the larger front-wheel drive MG4 that comes with either a 43kWh or 53kWh battery pack.

The more affordable MG4 FWD models are completely unrelated to the older MG4 and is on a different platform. But the new cabin updates help align both cars.

MG Australia has yet to announce when the upgraded MG4 will arrive, but it’s been reported that the cars with the fresh cabins should land around the second quarter of next year.
