Genesis Electrified G80 grows in size and gets bigger battery to help bash the Tesla Model S and BMW i5

The 2025 Genesis Electrified G80 sedan has been overhauled to sharpen up its act against rivals like the BMW i5, Mercedes-Benz EQE and (sadly absent from Australia) Tesla Model S.

Expected to land here in the coming months, the Korean luxury brand’s upgraded battery-electric sedan now comes equipped with a bigger 95.4kWh battery (up from the 87.2kWh).

That boosts range from 427km to a more respectable 475km on the Korean test cycle, which should translate into a range of between 570-600km on the Euro WLTP test cycle (up from the current 520km WLTP).

To house the bigger battery, Genesis engineers have extended the wheelbase by a lengthy 130mm, with the wheelbase now measuring in at 3140mm.

It’s thought the new battery is shared with the flagship Genesis G80 EV Magma concept.

Highlighting the significant upgrade beneath the skin the new Electrified G80 sedan gets sleeker look that include a new grille, fresh ‘micro lens array’ headlamps and a new bumper.

There’s even an automatic ‘EasyClose’ rear door system for those too relaxed to slam their own door.

There’s no word yet if the updated Electrified G80 produces any more power or if the 272kW/700Nm dual-motors carry over unchanged.

Pricing has yet to be confirmed for the even more luxurious Electrified G80 but we expect a premium over the $145,675 (plus ORCs) already charged for the larger zero-emission sedan.
